GROUP
Come along to our photo sessions to dust off your camera and get snap-happy with a professional photography instructor.

Brush up on your camera skills and learn new photography techniques whilst on a photo walk class with other local keen photographers!

We run two hour photography sessions based on a photography theme/technique/style and they take place in various locations in Edmonton.

  • New to photography? We also run a popular 3 hour Beginners Guide to Photography Class once a month. And once in a while we will run special niche 3 hour classes, for example, Astrophotography - so do subscribe to our newsletter to know when the next on is!

  • Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from beginners to keen amateurs. The photography instructor is there to help you with camera settings and provide any advice you need.

  • What to bring? We recommend bringing a camera that has full manual mode or semi-manual modes (Aperture or Shutter Priority). Compact cameras and smartphones also welcome!

The meeting point and full details for the day are sent in the booking confirmation email to the email address you provide at time of booking.

Join the Edmonton Photography Group on Facebook to share your photos after the session.

  • REVIEWS
I thought this was an excellent learning experience. I am well versed in the exposure triangle, so the beginning was a little repetitive but and very good review. The instructor then built on that and managed to cover, light, depth of field, leading lines, colour theory and composition, with real time examples that highlighted the lesson. I learned so much in a short period of time.

For a short workshop, I found it was excellent. Scotty covered a wide range of topics relating to outdoor portrait photography. I would attend another workshop in the future.

We knew the Swans were close as we were hiking by the sounds they make. We came to an opening in the trees along the Bow River and spotted them across the water. We made our way down the bank and as I was setting up the Swans took flight.

This little guy waited for me to focus, refocus and take a few steps closer and posed like a pro, moving his head from side to side so I could capture his best side. He was quite happy to cooperate for a minute or two!Shot with a Nikon Z50

Title or Location: Crystal Cove State Park CA
While photographing the hummingbirds in Crystal Cove State park, a park ranger stopped and told me about the Albino hummingbird and the likely location. Following his instructions, I found this hummingbird. It was difficult getting a photo because of the sun location, so had to find my way into the scrub brush. The park ranger warned me about rattle snakes and their babies, the mom and babies will all attack at once and that would be a heavy dose of venom.

A blanket of snow is just that, a blanket, a covering, a surface accumulation of snow that serves to protect and insulate our cherubs from the extreme weather is a blessing.

    Title or Location: Abraham Lake
I was on a day trip with my friend Sydney last February that took us past Abraham Lake and down into Banff National Park. I pulled over to see if the lake was frozen enough where we were to go skating (spoiler, it wasn't at that end). But we saw the mountain goats grazing and thankfully I had my camera out. I got quite a lot of good shots that cold, windy day.

Canyon Overlook in Zion National Park, an easy 30 min hike to this spot was worth it. View of the canyons and the switchbacks. Sprinkle of snow dust on the peaks makes gives it a bit more drama.

Flamingoes are kept indoors during the winter months but on this occasion a shaft of sunlight from a window revealed the beautiful colours of these birds. Their heads are always bobbing up and down so composition is difficult and focusing on the eye of the main subject is essential.
